Yesterday I birded with a youth. He knew more about the birds around me than I will ever know. I was the one asking the questions and learning from his expertise. Below is an article about the Gen-Z's interest in birding, something I have noticed when I am birding.

Actor, writer, composer and conservationist Bill Oddie has passed away this week aged 85. I've always enjoyed his books and over the years followed his conservation work. During his long career he suffered from mental illness issues. Eventually he was diagnosed as bi-polar disorder. During the dark days of his depression I'm sure birding provided a place of calm and tranquility.
